Riverdale Animal Shelter

Completed in spring 2026, Adams County’s first solar project at the Riverdale Animal Shelter features a 212 kW DC rooftop solar system that will save an estimated 228,780 kWh of electricity and $13,727 in energy costs annually. The project also reduces the facility’s energy use intensity from 269 to 198 and prevents approximately 183 tons of CO2 emissions each year, supporting the County’s commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.

South Parks Shed

Completed in spring 2026 as part of a newly constructed facility, the South Parks Shed solar project includes a 72 kW DC rooftop solar system that will save an estimated $7,600 in electrical costs annually. Over 20 years, the project is expected to prevent approximately 79 tons of CO2 emissions, supporting Adams County’s long-term sustainability goals through clean, renewable energy.

With construction beginning later in 2026, the Human Services Center solar project will feature 777.6 kW DC solar carports that provide both renewable energy generation and covered parking protection from heat and rain. The project is expected to save approximately 1,047,906 kWh of electricity and $41,916 in electrical costs annually, while reducing the facility’s energy use intensity from 31.7 to 14.1. The system will also prevent an estimated 840 tons of CO2 emissions each year, advancing Adams County’s sustainability and resilience goals.
