Rachel Bettale Named Adams County Employee of ALL Seasons
The Adams County Board of Commissioners announced Rachel Bettale as the Employee of ALL Seasons at the annual Employee Recognition Luncheon held on Thursday, Sept. 10.
Rachel began her career with Adams County in January 2012 as a Community Support Specialist in the Human Services Department. From July 2015 through June 2017, she served as a Community Support Lead before being promoted to Community Support Supervisor, a role she continues to hold today. As part of the county’s recognition program, Rachel was nominated and chosen as the 2025 Fall Employee of the Season winner in the Unsung Hero category, which honors individuals who consistently provide high-quality, reliable, and critical work behind the scenes, often without recognition or fanfare.
Rachel’s nomination read: “This supervisor demonstrated extraordinary courage, composure, and leadership during a medical emergency at the Human Services Center. One morning, a team member collapsed outside the Marathon Health clinic, unable to move their limbs and in severe distress. This employee immediately responded to the scene alongside our Security Supervisor, remaining by the team member’s side until emergency responders arrived approximately 15 minutes later. Drawing upon prior EMT experience, she kept the team member alert and conscious while also relaying accurate and critical details to paramedics. Her ability to remain calm, provide reassurance, and communicate effectively with emergency medical personnel provided essential context that directly influenced the team member’s outcome. Medical professionals later confirmed that without Rachel’s actions, the team member could have suffered permanent damage or even death. Rachel not only protected the life of a colleague but also modeled the values of courage, selflessness, and leadership that strengthen our division and county.”
“It is always difficult to choose an Employee of ALL Seasons from the group of so many outstanding employees who are honored each year, but Rachel’s quick thinking and swift actions are clearly deserving of this year’s award,” said Julie Duran Mullica, Chair of the Board of Commissioners. “Thank you to Rachel, and thank you to all the county employees being honored at today’s lunch who have chosen to dedicate their careers to public service and to the Adams County community.”
Adams County currently has approximately 2,900 employees who serve the county’s more than 551,000 residents. To become Employee of ALL Seasons, employees are nominated and voted on by their coworkers, the Recognition Committee, and Adams County residents.
The Employee Recognition Luncheon is an annual event to recognize employees who have reached a milestone year of service with the county, employees with over 20 years of service, employees identified as Wellness Champions, and the Employee of the Season award recipients.
