Otomi Heart at Riverdale Regional Park

Local artist Bimmer Torres’ Otomi Heart stands over 26’ tall with 360-degree views outside the Riverdale Animal Shelter in Riverdale Regional Park. The piece is a celebration of human connection to nature and land and depicts two women – a young woman and an elder – connected across time, representing the unbroken thread of heritage and ancestral wisdom.

The Otomi people, indigenous to Central Mexico, are known for their rich textile traditions, particularly Tenango embroidery. Torres intricate linework models this embroidery and if you can get close enough, you can see every stich, every spray.

Otomi Heart is part of the Adams County public art collection.

Community Engagement

Bimmer worked with 10 high school youth from the Brighton area and beyond for a one-day mural workshop intensive. The students were selected through a competitive application process, and worked directly with the artist to learn foundational skills in mural art and spray-painting techniques, and the career path and business of public art.
