Pecos Street Sculpture Series

Pecos Street in southwest Adams County is a gateway between Adams County and north Denver, a busy transportation corridor, and home to many families and small businesses. As part of the Adams County Public Works Pecos Street Widening Project, a urban/industrial series of median sculptures are to be installed as the final phase of the project.

The project was awarded to Colorado-based artist David Ocelotl Garcia in July 2026 and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2028.

Project Site

The Pecos Street Widening Project was completed in 2025. This major infrastructure project was a complete reconstruction and widening of Pecos from W. 52nd to W. 56th Avenues. The project site has five medians with seven existing uniform footers for public art placement. Current landscaping throughout all five medians includes trees, shrubs and bushes, rock mulch, and boulders. Artwork footers exist in four out of five of the medians.

About David Ocelotl Garcia

Colorado-based artist David Ocelotl Garcia is an accomplished artist working across several mediums including painting, sculpture, and murals. His work can be seen in national and international public art commissions and both museum and private collections. David has developed his own technique and philosophy on painting and sculpture coined “Abstract Imaginism.” Abstract Imaginism is a style of art that combines the spontaneity and unpredictability of abstraction with the creativity and perception of his imagination. About the Percentage for the Arts Program
