Letters for the Better Mural at 58th Avenue
As part of the Adams County Public Works East 58th Avenue Washington to York Improvement Project, Letters for the Better, a mural by artists Jolt and CoCo of Guerilla Garden, celebrates the rich history of graffiti in the surrounding neighborhood. The mural site is a nexus of transit that overlooks Riverside Cemetery, the National Western Complex, and the crisscrossing tracks of The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad, RTD, and The Union Pacific Railroad.
Letters for the Better is part of the Adams County Public Art Collection.
Community Engagement
The artists worked with eight youth artists from the Keystone Leadership Program at the Suncor Boys & Girls Club to design and install the mural. They held a six-week workshop series with a curriculum on the history of Chicano muralism and graffiti, and the process of working as professional artists in public art.
Letters for the Better spreads positivity into the community with words like “Familia”, “Unity”, and “Heritage” depicted in various styles of graffiti letter writing.
About Jolt and CoCo
Husband and wife team Jolt and CoCo are Denver natives and seasoned muralists with over two decades of experience. Deeply rooted in their culture, their work reflects a commitment to authenticity and intentionality, drawing inspiration from their origins and community. For over 30 years, Jolt has been a dedicated practitioner of graffiti, street art, and muralism. An artist since childhood, CoCo joined her husband in painting murals over a decade ago. Their creations are infused with purpose, bridging tradition and contemporary expression. Learn more about them here.
