National Emergency Preparedness Month Trainings
In honor of September as National Emergency Preparedness Month, the Adams County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), Office of Strategic Partnerships and Resilient Communities (SPARC), and Colorado State University Extension Office are offering multiple trainings to help your family be prepared.
These classes will be offered throughout September and early October:
How to Prepare for Everything
Join your local emergency managers for this interactive session where we will practice expanding our preparedness thinking to plan for disruptions, not disasters.

Make a Plan; Build a Kit
Join your local emergency managers for a hands-on workshop where you will make your own personal or family preparedness plan and begin assembling an emergency preparedness kit!

Red Cross Combination Classes
Join your local emergency management and Red Cross partners for a FREE three-in-one preparedness class! There are two class options available, and each session includes three Red Cross Offerings:
- Be Red Cross Ready: A national, standardized preparedness education curriculum for adults, taught by certified presenters. The program is designed to help people understand, prepare for, and respond appropriately to disasters. For more information, visit redcross.org/prepare.
- Hands Only CPR: This 30-minute class can help you increase the chance of someone surviving a cardiac emergency. Learn how to deliver lifesaving CPR care without rescue breaths and be prepared. For more information, visit redcross.org/handsonly.
- Prepare with Pedro: An interactive storytelling program designed to increase emergency preparedness in young children. This education program is for grades Kindergarten through third that teaches students how to be prepared and take action when an emergency strikes. FOr more information, visit redcross.org/pedro.

Food Preservation 101: Water Bath Canning
Learn the basics of preserving your harvest with hands-on instruction in this interactive workshop demonstration. All participants will go home with new knowledge, skills, and a free sample of the jam made in the demonstration.
