Adams County Board Appoints Thomas Swingle as Assessor

March 18th, 2026

On Tuesday, March 17, the Adams County Board of Commissioners (BoCC) approved a resolution appointing Thomas Swingle to fill the vacancy in the Office of the Adams County Assessor following the early retirement of current Assessor Ken Musso. The appointment will become effective Saturday, April 4.

Swingle’s appointment fills a short vacancy in the office that voters will fill in the November 2026 election. Swingle is the current Deputy Assessor and has experience leading the Assessor’s Office. His appointment will provide stability and continuity in the Assessor’s Office.

“We know property taxes are an extremely important topic to our community, especially as our Assessor’s Office is preparing for reappraisals in 2027,” said Commissioner Julie Duran Mullica, Chair of the BoCC. “Thomas will ensure the office’s operations are consistent and effective for our residents.”

Swingle will serve as the Assessor until a permanent Assessor is elected in the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and sworn in Jan. 12, 2027.
